NUTFIELD PARISH CHURCH

The Church of St Peter and St Paul

Patronal Festival 2022

Oh what a joyous occasion we had this weekend at our Summer Festival celebrating the lives of St Peter and St Paul and it was an absolute delight to welcome back some familiar faces who we have not seen for a while.

Hymns and Pimm’s on Saturday evening saw 34 people, three children and a dog gather to sing favourite hymns with a glass of Pimms and nibbles.  We should like to say a huge thank you to Charles Thompson, Ian le Grice and the choir for leading us in the hymns, for their beautiful anthems and to Charles for  giving us fascinating facts about the hymns.  Also, thanks go to Terry O’Dell for manning the Pimm’s table, making sure everyone’s glass was topped up and to everybody else who contributed to the evening - from ordering and collecting glasses, to counting the number of people who attended.  Thanks also to the Queen’s Head  in Nutfield for providing a bottle of Pimms.

On Sunday we had afternoon tea followed by a beautiful Evensong service.  It was a delightful occasion and many thanks to everyone who contributed to this lovely afternoon from organising and collecting crockery, baking, setting up and serving plus clearing away.  It was certainly a team effort. Many people contributed items for the table-top sale and this raised  additional money.

Our thanks go to everyone who helped this weekend be a huge success - from planning, leafleting every house in the parish (particularly Laura Castleman), organising, to helping out on the days themselves.  We could not have done this without you and the weekend is a reminder of the bonds that bring our church community together.  Thank you all.

Over the past two weekends we have had three large events - the London to Brighton cycle race where Serena and Kristy headed a team to organise food and drink for the cyclists.  Then Hymns and Pimms on Saturday 25th June and afternoon tea on Sunday 26th June.  Although we cannot yet confirm a total from the three events, we think it might be approaching £1,000. This was a tremendous effort to raise money for the Restoration Fund so well done everyone and thank you.  Brockham next!
